Toby Tobias - The Feeling (Original mix)

Toby Tobias – Space Shuffle
Genre: Electronic
Style: Leftfield, Deep House, Tech House, Disco
Year: 2008

Toby Tobias has been with Rekids since its inception in 2006. His initial release on Rekids, 'A Close Shave', was a great hit and went some way in establishing the label as a fresh, eclectic musical venture in its early days. Prior to this, Toby had of course already been honing his production skills since the turn of the millennium. By the time he released on Rekids, Toby's work was already of a high calibre - seeing releases on Low Pressings, Bearfunk, Odori and Hi-Phen. After the tremendous success of 'A Close Shave', the remix requests started to flood in - this resulting in Toby releasing on labels such as Beat Freeze Records, Bent, Bloop Recordings and Dialect Recordings. Following this, Toby released his second single on Rekids, 'Dave's Sex Bits', remixed by Quiet Village. This cemented Toby's position as one of the pioneers of the modern disco renaissance .

2008 brought another milestone, with Toby releasing his debut album 'Space Shuffle' on Rekids, to wide critical acclaim - receiving 4.5/5 from Resident Advisor and 5/5 from iDJ. The album features 15 tracks of disco influenced gems with a truly contemporary edge. Discoid anthem 'The Feeling', featuring the silky smooth vocals of Kathy Diamond, was released as a single including remixes from John Daly and I:Cube. Again, this received massive praise and global support from DJ's across the board. Further remixes from Dave Ellesmere, Tensnake and James Teej helped propel the 'Space Shuffle' sound to the forefront of pioneering dance music at the time.

At present, Toby has been busier with his own labels ( Tracky Bottoms and LateNightAudio ) . 2010 saw the release of his Macasu EP, featuring the almost ubiquitous Motor City Drum Ensemble remix. Toby also remixed fellow Rekids pal James Teej for his 'Space Oddity' release on My Favorite Robot Records, garnering thumbs up from the likes of Robert Owens, Jamie Jones, Thomas Schumacher and Wolf & Lamb. Look out for forthcoming remixes of Phreek Plus Featuring Mr White and Toro Y Moi , plus an exciting new venture with a blue eyed soul singer .

Toby's most recent release on Rekids came last year, in the form of his 'You Know EP' - featuring 3 house -to -disco- to -detroit dance-floor hits with another guest appearance from Kathy Diamond. Toby's music is truly unique - in a genre now saturated with generic, formulaic music, Toby is one of the few who can claim to have his own sound. This year we look forward to more of the same, in the form of the long awaited second album for Rekids !
